a4c3d3d8c0 feat(widget): Allow widget loading in mobile app WebViews when domain restrictions are set (#13763)
When `allowed_domains` is configured on a web widget inbox, the server
responds with Content-Security-Policy: frame-ancestors <domains>, which
blocks the widget iframe in mobile app WebViews. This happens because
WebViews load content from file:// or null origins, which cannot match
any domain in the frame-ancestors directive.

This adds a per-inbox toggle — "Enable widget in mobile apps" — that
skips the frame-ancestors header when the request has no valid Origin
(i.e., it comes from a mobile WebView). Web browsers with a real origin
still get domain restrictions enforced as usual.

How to test

1. Go to Settings → Inboxes → (Web Widget) → Configuration
2. Set allowed_domains to a specific domain (e.g., *.example.com)
3. Try loading the widget in a mobile app WebView — it should be blocked
4. Enable "Enable widget in mobile apps" checkbox
5. Reload the widget in the WebView — it should now load successfully
6. Verify the widget on a website not in the allowed domains list is
still blocked

a8d53a6df4 feat(linear): Support refresh tokens and migrate legacy OAuth tokens (#13721)
Linear is deprecating long-lived OAuth2 access tokens (valid for 10
years) in favor of short-lived access tokens with refresh tokens.
Starting October 1, 2025, all new OAuth2 apps will default to refresh
tokens. Linear will no longer issue long-lived access tokens. Please

We currently use long-lived tokens in our Linear integration (valid for
up to 10 years). To remain compatible, this PR ensures compatibility by
supporting refresh-token-based auth and migrating existing legacy
tokens.

2a90652f05 feat: Add draft status for help center locales (#13768)
This adds a draft status for Help Center locales so teams can prepare
localized content in the dashboard without exposing those locales in the
public portal switcher until they are ready to publish.

## Why

Teams need a way to work on locale-specific Help Center content ahead of
launch. The public portal should only show ready locales, while the
admin dashboard should continue to expose every allowed locale for
ongoing article and category work.

## What this change does

- Adds `draft_locales` to portal config as a subset of `allowed_locales`
- Hides drafted locales from the public portal language switchers while
keeping direct locale URLs working
- Keeps drafted locales fully visible in the admin dashboard for article
and category management
- Adds locale actions to move an existing locale to draft, publish a
drafted locale, and keep the default locale protected from drafting
- Adds a status dropdown when creating a locale so new locales can be
created as `Published` or `Draft`
- Returns each admin locale with a `draft` flag so the locale UI can
reflect the public visibility state

## Validation

- Seed a portal with multiple locales, draft one locale, and confirm the
public portal switcher hides it while `/hc/:slug/:locale` still loads
directly
- In the admin dashboard, confirm drafted locales still appear in the
locale list and remain selectable for articles and categories
- Create a new locale with `Draft` status and confirm it stays out of
the public switcher until published
- Move an existing locale back and forth between `Published` and `Draft`
and confirm the public switcher updates accordingly

270f3c6a80 fix: slim help center search results (#13761)
Fixes help center public article search so query responses stay compact
and locale-scoped. Whitespace-only queries are now treated as empty in
both the portal UI and the server-side search path, and search
suggestions stay aligned with the trimmed query.

## Why

The public help center search endpoint reused the full article
serializer for query responses, which returned much more data than the
search suggestions UI needed. That made responses heavier than necessary
and also surfaced nested portal and category data that made the results
look cross-locale.

Whitespace-only searches could also still reach the backend search path,
and in Enterprise that meant embedding search could be invoked for a
blank query.

## What changed

- return a compact search-specific payload for article query responses
- keep the existing full article serializer for normal article listing
responses
- preserve current-locale search behavior for the portal search flow
- trim whitespace-only search terms on the client so they do not open
suggestions or trigger a request
- reuse the normalized query on the backend so whitespace-only requests
are treated as empty searches in both OSS and Enterprise paths
- pass the trimmed search term into suggestions so highlighting matches
the actual query being sent
- add request and frontend regression coverage for compact payloads,
locale scoping, and whitespace-only search behavior

## Validation

1. Open `/hc/:portal/:locale` in the public help center.
2. Enter only spaces in the search box and confirm suggestions do not
open.
3. Search for a real term and confirm suggestions appear.
4. Verify the results are limited to the active locale.
5. Click a suggestion and confirm it opens the correct article page.
6. Inspect the query response and confirm it returns the compact search
payload instead of the full article serializer.

412b72db7c fix: Delete double hmac check (#12464)
## Description

When hmac identity check is enabled according to
[this](https://www.chatwoot.com/hc/user-guide/articles/1677587479-how-to-enable-identity-validation-in-chatwoot)
I found out, that it checked twice.

If `should_verify_hmac? -> true` then hmac checked in `before_action`
and we don't need to do it again later.

This perfomance related and PR fixes this.

dc0e5eb465 fix: optimize message query with account_id filter (#13759)
## Description

This PR optimizes message queries by explicitly filtering with
`account_id` so the database can use the existing indexes more
efficiently.

Changes:
- Add `account_id` to message query filters to improve index
utilization.
- Update `last_incoming_message` query to include `account_id`.
- Avoid unnecessary preloading of `contact_inboxes` where it is not
required.
- Update specs to ensure `account_id` is set correctly in
message-related tests.

These changes reduce query cost and improve performance for message
lookups, especially on large accounts.

9f376c43b5 fix(signup): normalize account signup config checks (#13745)
This makes account signup enforcement consistent when signup is disabled
at the installation level. Email signup and Google signup now stay
blocked regardless of whether the config value is stored as a string or
a boolean.

This effectively covers the config-loader path, where `YAML.safe_load`
reads `value: false` from `installation_config.yml` as a native boolean
and persists it that way.

- Normalized the account signup check so disabled signup is handled
consistently across config value types.
- Reused the same check across API signup and Google signup entry
points.
- Added regression coverage for the disabled-signup cases in the
existing controller specs.

397b0bcc9d feat: allow agent bots to toggle typing status (#13705)
Agent bot conversations now feel more natural because AgentBot tokens
can toggle typing status, so end users see a live typing indicator in
the widget while the bot is preparing a reply. This keeps the
interaction responsive and human-like without weakening token
authorization boundaries.

## How to test
1. Open the widget and start a conversation as a customer.
2. Connect an AgentBot to the same inbox.
3. Trigger `toggle_typing_status` with the AgentBot token
(`typing_status: on`).
4. Confirm the customer sees the typing indicator in the widget.
5. Trigger `toggle_typing_status` with `typing_status: off` and confirm
the indicator disappears.

## What changed
- Added `toggle_typing_status` to bot-accessible conversation endpoints.
- Restricted bot-accessible endpoint usage to `AgentBot` token owners
only (non-user tokens like `PlatformApp` remain unauthorized).
- Updated typing status flow to preserve AgentBot identity in
dispatch/broadcast paths.
- Added request coverage for AgentBot success and PlatformApp
unauthorized behavior.
- Added Swagger documentation for `POST
/api/v1/accounts/{account_id}/conversations/{conversation_id}/toggle_typing_status`
and regenerated swagger artifacts.

6be95e79f8 feat(csat): Add WhatsApp utility template analyzer with rewrite guidance (#13575)
CSAT templates for WhatsApp are submitted as Utility, but Meta may
reclassify them as Marketing based on content, which can significantly
increase messaging costs.
This PR introduces a Captain-powered CSAT template analyzer for
WhatsApp/Twilio WhatsApp that predicts utility fit, explains likely
risks, and suggests safer rewrites before submission. The flow is manual
(button-triggered), Captain-gated, and applies rewrites only on explicit
user action. It also updates UX copy to clearly set expectations: the
system submits as Utility, Meta makes the final categorization decision.

2441487a76 perf: skip conversation loading in /meta endpoint (#13564)

## Summary
- Adds `perform_meta_only` method to `ConversationFinder` that runs
setup and counts without loading the paginated conversation list
- Updates `/api/v1/conversations/meta` to use `perform_meta_only`
instead of `perform`

## Problem
The `/meta` endpoint calls `ConversationFinder#perform` which:
1. Runs all filters and setup (`set_up`)
2. Computes 3 COUNT queries (`set_count_for_all_conversations`)
3. Filters by assignee type
4. **Builds the full paginated conversation list** with
`.includes(:taggings, :inbox, {assignee: {avatar_attachment: [:blob]}},
{contact: {avatar_attachment: [:blob]}}, :team, :contact_inbox)` +
sorting + pagination

The controller then **discards the conversations** and only uses the
counts:

e75e8a77f6 feat(shopify): Add mandatory compliance webhooks with HMAC verification (#13549)

Shopify requires all public apps to handle three GDPR compliance
webhooks before they can be listed on the App Store. Their automated
review checks for these endpoints and verifies that apps validate HMAC
signatures on incoming requests. We were failing both checks.

This PR adds a single webhook endpoint at `POST /webhooks/shopify` that
receives all three compliance events. When Shopify sends a webhook, it
signs the payload with our app's client secret and includes the
signature in the `X-Shopify-Hmac-SHA256` header. Our controller reads
the raw body, computes the expected HMAC-SHA256 digest, and rejects
mismatched requests with a 401.

Shopify identifies the event type through the `X-Shopify-Topic` header.
For `customers/data_request` and `customers/redact`, we simply
acknowledge with a 200—Chatwoot doesn't persist any Shopify customer
data. All order lookups happen as live API calls at query time. For
`shop/redact`, which Shopify sends after a merchant uninstalls the app,
we delete the integration hook for that shop domain and remove the
stored access token and configuration.

4d362da9f0 fix: Prevent user enumeration on password reset endpoint (#13528)
## Description

The current password reset endpoint returns different HTTP status codes
and messages depending on whether the email exists in the system (200
for existing emails, 404 for non-existing ones). This allows attackers
to enumerate valid email addresses via the password reset form.

## Changes

### `app/controllers/devise_overrides/passwords_controller.rb`
- Removed the `if/else` branch that returned different responses based
on email existence
- Now always returns a generic `200 OK` response with the same message
regardless of whether the email exists
- Uses safe navigation operator (`&.`) to send reset instructions only
if the user exists

### `config/locales/en.yml`
- Consolidated `reset_password_success` and `reset_password_failure`
into a single generic `reset_password` key
- New message does not reveal whether the email exists in the system

## Security Impact
- **Before**: An attacker could determine if an email was registered by
observing the HTTP status code (200 vs 404) and response message
- **After**: All requests receive the same 200 response with a generic
message, preventing user enumeration

This follows [OWASP guidelines for authentication error
messages](https://cheatsheetseries.owasp.org/cheatsheets/Authentication_Cheat_Sheet.html#authentication-responses).

5ec77aca64 feat: Add first response time distribution report endpoint (#13400)
The index is already added in production.

Adds a new reporting API that returns conversation counts grouped by
channel type and first response time buckets (0-1h, 1-4h, 4-8h, 8-24h,
24h+).

- GET /api/v2/accounts/:id/reports/first_response_time_distribution
- Uses SQL aggregation to handle large datasets efficiently
- Adds composite index on reporting_events for query performance

Tested on production workload.

0ca98bc84f feat: add lightweight /health endpoint (#13386)
The existing /api health check endpoint creates a new Redis connection
on every request and checks both Redis and Postgres availability. During
peak traffic, this creates unnecessary load and can cause cascading
failures when either service is slow - instances get marked unhealthy,
traffic shifts to remaining instances, which then also fail health
checks.

The new /health endpoint:
  - Returns immediately with 200 {"status":"woot"}
  - Skips all middleware and authentication
  - No Redis or Postgres dependency
- Suitable for health checks that only need to verify the web server is
responding

04b2901e1f feat: Conversation workflows(EE) (#13040)
We are expanding Chatwoot’s automation capabilities by
introducing **Conversation Workflows**, a dedicated section in settings
where teams can configure rules that govern how conversations are closed
and what information agents must fill before resolving. This feature
helps teams enforce data consistency, collect structured resolution
information, and ensure downstream reporting is accurate.

Instead of having auto‑resolution buried inside Account Settings, we
introduced a new sidebar item:
- Auto‑resolve conversations (existing behaviour)
- Required attributes on resolution (new)

This groups all conversation‑closing logic into a single place.

#### Required Attributes on Resolve

Admins can now pick which custom conversation attributes must be filled
before an agent can resolve a conversation.

**How it works**

- Admin selects one or more attributes from the list of existing
conversation level custom attributes.
- These selected attributes become mandatory during resolution.
- List all the attributes configured via Required Attributes (Text,
Number, Link, Date, List, Checkbox)
- When an agent clicks Resolve Conversation:
If attributes already have values → the conversation resolves normally.
If attributes are missing → a modal appears prompting the agent to fill
them.

- Under Required attributes on resolve, click Add Required Attribute.
- Pick from the dropdown list of conversation attributes.
- Save changes.

Agents will now be prompted automatically whenever they resolve.

- The Required Attributes on Resolve modal should only appear when
values are missing.
- Required attributes must block the resolution action until satisfied.
- Bulk‑resolve actions should follow the same rules — any conversation

a notification that the resolution cannot be done.
- API resolution does not respect the attributes.

ad2329c237 perf(conversations): throttle agent_last_seen_at updates to reduce DB load (#13355)
High-traffic accounts generate excessive database writes due to agents
frequently switching between conversations. The update_last_seen
endpoint was being called every time an agent loaded a conversation,
resulting in unnecessary updates to agent_last_seen_at and
assignee_last_seen_at even when there were no new messages to mark as
read.

#### Solution
Implemented throttling for the update_last_seen endpoint:

**Unread messages present:**
- Updates immediately without throttling to maintain accurate
read/unread state
- Uses assignee_unread_messages for assignees, unread_messages for other
agents

**No unread messages:**
- Throttles updates to once per hour per conversation
- Checks if agent_last_seen_at is older than 1 hour before updating
- For assignees, checks both agent_last_seen_at AND
assignee_last_seen_at - updates if either timestamp is old
- Skips DB write if all relevant timestamps were updated within the last
hour

- Consolidated two separate update_column calls into a single
update_columns call to reduce DB queries

CSAT scores are helpful, but on their own they rarely tell the full
story. A drop in rating can come from delayed timelines, unclear
expectations, or simple misunderstandings, even when the issue itself
was handled correctly.

Review Notes for CSAT let admins/report manager roles add internal-only
context next to each CSAT response. This makes it easier to interpret
scores properly and focus on patterns and root causes, not just numbers.

**Document internal insights**
Use Review Notes to capture things like:

* Why a score was lower or higher than expected
* Patterns you are seeing across similar cases
* Observations around communication, timelines, or customer expectations

Review Notes are visible only to administrators and people with report
access only. We may expand visibility to agents in the future based on
feedback. However, customers never see them.

Each note clearly shows who added it and when, making it easy to review
context and changes over time.

## Description

Implements comprehensive search functionality with advanced filtering
capabilities for Chatwoot (Linear: CW-5956).

This PR adds:
1. **Time-based filtering** for contacts and conversations (SQL-based
search)
2. **Advanced message search** with multiple filters
(OpenSearch/Elasticsearch-based)
- **`from` filter**: Filter messages by sender (format: `contact:42` or
`agent:5`)
   - **`inbox_id` filter**: Filter messages by specific inbox
- **Time range filters**: Filter messages using `since` and `until`
parameters (Unix timestamps in seconds)
- **90-day limit enforcement**: Automatically limits searches to the
last 90 days to prevent performance issues

The implementation extends the existing `Enterprise::SearchService`
module for advanced features and adds time filtering to the base
`SearchService` for SQL-based searches.

## Technical Implementation

### SQL-Based Search (Contacts, Conversations, Articles)
- Uses PostgreSQL `ILIKE` queries by default
- Optional GIN index support via `search_with_gin` feature flag for
better performance
- Time filtering uses `last_activity_at` for contacts/conversations
- Returns paginated results (15 per page)

### Requirements

### Performance Considerations
- 90-day limit prevents expensive long-range queries on large datasets
- GIN indexes recommended for high-volume search on SQL-based resources
- OpenSearch/Elasticsearch provides faster full-text search for messages

### Breaking Changes
- None. All new parameters are optional and backward compatible.

### Frontend Integration
- Frontend PR tracking advanced search UI will consume these endpoints
- Time range pickers should convert JavaScript `Date` to Unix timestamps
(seconds)
- Date conversion: `Math.floor(date.getTime() / 1000)`

### Error Handling
- Invalid `from` parameter format is silently ignored (filter not
applied)
- Time range exceeding 90 days returns `422` with error message
- Missing `q` parameter returns `422` (existing behavior)
- Unauthorized inbox access is filtered out (no error, just excluded
from results)

2adc040a8f fix: Validate blob before attaching it to a record (#13115)
Previously, attachments relied only on blob_id, which made it possible
to attach blobs across accounts by enumerating IDs. We now require both
blob_id and blob_key, add cross-account validation to prevent blob
reuse, and centralize the logic in a shared BlobOwnershipValidation
concern.

It also fixes a frontend bug where mixed-type action params (number +
string) were incorrectly dropped, causing attachment uploads to fail.

86da3f7c06 fix: Remove account_id from params since it is not used (#13116)
account_id was permitted in strong parameters, allowing authenticated
admins to transfer resources (Portals, Automation Rules, Macros) to
arbitrary accounts.

ca5e112a8c feat: TikTok channel (#12741)
fixes: #11834

This pull request introduces TikTok channel integration, enabling users
to connect and manage TikTok business accounts similarly to other
supported social channels. The changes span backend API endpoints,
authentication helpers, webhook handling, configuration, and frontend
components to support TikTok as a first-class channel.


**Key Notes**
* This integration is only compatible with TikTok Business Accounts
* Special permissions are required to access the TikTok [Business
Messaging
API](https://business-api.tiktok.com/portal/docs?id=1832183871604753).
* The Business Messaging API is region-restricted and is currently
unavailable to users in the EU.
* Only TEXT, IMAGE, and POST_SHARE messages are currently supported due
to limitations in the TikTok Business Messaging API
* A message will be successfully sent only if it contains text alone or
one image attachment. Messages with multiple attachments or those
combining text and attachments will fail and receive a descriptive error
status.
* Messages sent directly from the TikTok App will be synced into the
system
* Initiating a new conversation from the system is not permitted due to
limitations from the TikTok Business Messaging API.


**Backend: TikTok Channel Integration**

* Added `Api::V1::Accounts::Tiktok::AuthorizationsController` to handle
TikTok OAuth authorization initiation, returning the TikTok
authorization URL.
* Implemented `Tiktok::CallbacksController` to handle TikTok OAuth
callback, process authorization results, create or update channel/inbox,
and handle errors or denied scopes.
* Added `Webhooks::TiktokController` to receive and verify TikTok
webhook events, including signature verification and event dispatching.
* Created `Tiktok::IntegrationHelper` module for JWT-based token
generation and verification for secure TikTok OAuth state management.

**Configuration and Feature Flags**

* Added TikTok app credentials (`TIKTOK_APP_ID`, `TIKTOK_APP_SECRET`) to
allowed configs and app config, and registered TikTok as a feature in
the super admin features YAML.

# TikTok App Setup & Configuration
1. Grant access to the Business Messaging API

3. Update the installation config with TikTok App ID and Secret

f455e7994e fix: respect status parameter when creating articles via API (#12846)
## Description

The Articles API was ignoring the `status` parameter when creating new
articles. All articles were forced to be drafts due to a hardcoded
`@article.draft!` call in the controller, even when users explicitly
sent `status: 1` (published) in their API request.

This PR removes the hardcoded draft enforcement and allows the status
parameter to be respected while maintaining backward compatibility.

Fixes #12063

**Before:**
- API POST with `status: 1` → Created as draft (ignored parameter)
- API POST without status → Created as draft

**After:**
- API POST with `status: 1` → Created as published

- UI creates articles → Still creates as draft (UI doesn't send status)


**Tests run:**
```bash
bundle exec rspec spec/controllers/api/v1/accounts/articles_controller_spec.rb
# 17 examples, 0 failures
```

Updated tests:
1. Changed 2 existing tests that were verifying the broken behavior
(expecting draft when published was sent)
2. Added new test to verify articles default to draft when status is not
provided
3. All existing tests pass, confirming backward compatibility
